DOT training programs for employees, supervisors and DERs typically include several courses. Each course is designed around specific learning objectives and included in programs to meet particular learning needs.

C7TJ-01: Drug Control, Marijuana and Cocaine

This DOT course examines how the federal government identifies and controls risky drugs. And provides important facts about marijuana and cocaine, two of the DOT 5-panel drugs.

Learning objectives

Learners who complete this course will be prepared to:

  1. Give examples of the three types of psychoactive drugs - uppers, downers, and "all-arounders" - and explain key characteristics of each
  2. Explain how risky drugs are scheduled by the DEA, and why some drugs and drug use are illegal, including the abuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications
  3. Provide facts about marijuana, including its physical and psychological effects, health and safety risks, impact on the workplace, and signs of current use.
  4. Provide similar facts about cocaine.
