Each drug-free workplace (DFWP) training program includes two or more courses, assembled for a specific training purpose. Individual courses are built around learning objectives for a particular audience.

This drug-free workplace (DFWP) course describes characteristics of psychoactive drugs. It examines how risky drugs are controlled, and why some drugs and drug use are illegal.

Learning objectives

Learners who complete this course will be prepared to:

  1. Provide examples of the three types of psychoactive drugs and explain their characteristics
  2. Describe how risky drugs are identified and placed into different drug schedules by the DEA
  3. Explain why some drugs and drug use are illegal, including the misuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications
