Each drug-free workplace (DFWP) training program includes two or more courses, assembled for a specific training purpose. Individual courses are built around learning objectives for a particular audience.

CASN-04: Determining Reasonable Suspicion

This course trains supervisors how to determine if reasonable suspicion testing is warranted according to observable evidence.

Learning objectives

Learners who complete this course will be prepared to:

  1. Explain what reasonable suspicion means, including the degree of certainty required
  2. Identify the types of evidence that can support reasonable suspicion testing, including observable signs and behavioral indicators of current alcohol and drug use
  3. Discuss the contemporaneous and articulable evidence standards for observations of employees
  4. Identify situations where reasonable suspicion testing is not warranted
